  About Us

Pippa Geddes - Breeder of Shropshire Sheep and co-founder of Flock of Ages woollen productsLyn Sellwood - co-founder of Flock of Ages woollen productsFlock of Ages is a joint venture between sisters Lyn Sellwood and Pippa Geddes. With complementary skills but a shared enthusiasm for the countryside, they have created a range of products inspired by rare-breed Shropshire Sheep.

Based in Oxfordshire, Lyn brings to the partnership a life-long interest in knitting and handmade textiles, coupled with a growing expertise in developing and using natural dyestuffs.

Farming in Shropshire, Pippa and her husband Peter are enthusiastic supporters of traditional and rare British livestock breeds. Alongside a herd of Ruby Red Devon Cattle, they run the prize-winning Alderton Flock of pedigree Shropshire sheep.

Pippa GeddesLyn SellwoodAlthough now considered “rare”, Shropshires were once renowned the world over for their beautiful wool. As long ago as the Fourteenth Century, when wool was a greatly valued commodity, fleeces from sheep in Shropshire were the most highly prized in the country.

Modern Shropshire sheep have retained the ability to produce high quality, dense fleeces. Keen to revive use of this neglected asset, Flock of Ages has developed a unique range of handmade gifts using wool from the Alderton Flock. Our products frequently incorporate hand dyed yarns produced in subtle colours reflecting the seasons of the British countryside.

Inspiration for the our range of knitted animals is a much loved old grey rabbit knitted by our mother – the sole survivor of a warren of rabbits she knitted for local bazaars.
